Safety Training Courses

Organisation of workplace safety training courses

ICS srl provides its customers with safety training courses that cover all topics concerning safety in the workplace, in compliance with Italian Law Legislative Decree no. 81/2008 ” health and safety in the workplace Law”, and the State-Regions Agreement dated 21/12/2011. ICS srl is able to offer a training requirement detection service with the aim of supporting the Body/Company in identifying the necessary training courses and the relative recipients. The courses are held by qualified teachers in accordance with the State-Region Agreement dated December 2011 and the Italia Law Interministerial Decree dated 06 March 2013.

According to the State-Regions Agreement of 21 December 2011, the training program for workers includes a general and a specific module. In detail:
  • general training: must last no less than 4 hours and cover topics such as: the concept of risk, damage, prevention, protection, organisation of company prevention, rights and duties of the various company subjects, supervisory bodies, control, assistance. These contents do not change according to the company and the relevant ATECO code;
  • specific training: it must last no less than 4, 8 or 12 hours (depending on the risk level of the activity, low, medium, high) and cover specific task related risks, possible damage and prevention and protection measures.
Regardless of the company’s risk level, training updates are provided every 5 years, with a minimum duration of 6 hours for all workers.
The Consolidated Act on health and safety at work has expressly regulated Safety and health at Work training to be compulsory for the Security Officer in charge. The training courses provided for the Security Officer must be of at least 8 hours long and in addition to the one already provided for workers. This implies that the Security Officer in charge must first carry out general and specific worker training courses, common for all company risk’s macro-categories. The Security Officer in charge must perform a two-yearly refresher course lasting 6 hours.
Management Safety training is compulsory according to the provisions of the The Consolidated Act on health and safety at work and the State-Regions Agreement of 21 December 2011. Management training replaces the one provided for workers; the course must last 16 hours at least and is divided into 4 modules:
  • legal and regulatory
  • safety management and organisation
  • risks identification and assessment
  • communication, training and consultation of workers.
Refresher training for managers is every five years and lasts 6 hours.
Fire Safety Wardens must undergo specific training related to the fire risk level or type of activity, in accordance with Italian Law Ministerial Decree 2/9/21. The duration of the courses varies according to the fire risk level of the work activity:
  • Level 1 duration 4 hours (2 hours theory and 2 hours practice)
  • Level 2 duration 8 hours (5 hours theory and 3 hours practice)
  • Level 3 duration 16 hours (12 hours theory 4 hours practice) + qualifying examination to be taken at the Fire Department Station offices.
According to the Ministerial Decree of 2 September 2021, refresher courses must be repeated every 5 years.
Italian Law Ministerial Decree 388/2003 declares that the employer shall identify one or more workers as First Aid officers in the company. Designated workers must receive specific training and subsequent refresher training every three years for First Aid management. First Aid officers course has a duration the varies according to the work activities classification, as in Ministerial Decree No. 388 of 15 July 2003:
  • Group A companies course – 16 hours
  • Group B and C companies course – 12 hours
